A full architectural service from concept sketch to project management was provided for this £3.5m warden controlled retirement homes complex, comprising 24 flats and 16 cottages in the heart of historic Bradford-on-Avon, completed on time and on budget, in place of a previous proposal by others which had to be abandoned after £70,000 and many months had already been wasted.

Our design capitalised on the economy of scale available by repeating 1 basic cottage type and 2 basic flat types, and we persuaded the Planners to permit the use of a reconstituted-stone, faced block for the new buildings, rather than the considerably more expensive real stone, in return for converting and cleaning the old Grade ll Listed stone school building.
